Zuckerberg predicts AI reshaping daily life, Meta to pursue 'relentless' integration - Forbes
Mark Zuckerberg touted artificial intelligence as a transformative technology poised to reshape the tech industry in an interview with Forbes published Wednesday, Sept. 27.
Zuckerberg said recent AI breakthroughs represent “awesome progress” and predicted AI will become more ubiquitous in daily life.
“There’s going to be a lot of different AIs that people interact with for different things and that we interact with throughout our day,” he told Forbes.
The Meta CEO said integrating AI is a priority for the company across its family of apps and products. He said AI and virtual/augmented reality represent the most exciting innovations on the horizon.
Zuckerberg said VR technology like Meta’s Oculus Quest allows people to “feel physically present” together through avatars. He predicts AR glasses will one day overlay digital images seamlessly in the real world.
“There’s something that’s sort of magical about that, that you don’t get in any other kind of screen or technology,” he said.
When asked about rivals, Zuckerberg downplayed focusing on competitors. He said Meta is focused on “relentlessly” improving its execution.
But he said Meta incorporates lessons from useful products by competitors, saying “not every great idea is going to come from us.”
The interview offered a window into Meta’s priorities as it continues pouring billions into its metaverse vision while integrating more AI features into Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp.
